Take The IPC-1752 Survey
The IPC wants to hear from you if you have used the IPC-1752 standard in your business. Since I was involved in the late phases of development, I received an email message asking for feedback. Just in case your spam filter is a bit over-zealous, here is the gist of the message.
"Having recently passed the 1 year anniversary of releasing the IPC-1752 material declaration format, the developers of the material declaration standards supporting this format are anxious to gain some feedback from the industry on how well the format is being used, in what manner, and what areas the standard could be improved upon.
"You have downloaded the IPC-1752 standard since its release and we would like to invite you to play a role in helping us to make this standard the most useful tool possible. The survey is brief and will take no more than 15 minutes to complete. If there are others in your organization that should have input to this survey, please forward this information to them."
The survey asks for details on how you use the IPC-1752 forms. Be ready with at least rough statistics on how many copies have been downloaded and how long you have offered the forms. Questions ask about the formats you offer (XML, PDF), percent XML usage, your legal statement, lab analysis used to back up declarations and which class of declaration you use. For request/response users, the survey wants to know your turn around time, and how you prepare a request. It also asks how many requests you have received and responded to, and statistics about your response process.
There is ample room for comments on the implementation and the survey solicits your suggestions for improvements. The same contact information you submitted to download the forms is again requested on the survey.
If you are using IPC-1752, I urge you to take this survey on behalf of your company. The results will be used to assess the actual value of the standard and to make improvements. Responses from all users in the same company are encouraged.
Go to the survey page to begin. Please complete your response(s) by 30 June 2007.
